My lovely husband bought me one of those pre-printed tapestries for Christmas, which is lovely, but he has somewhat over-estimated my ability! I have never done one before and he has gone for a “moderate to hard” level!

I’ve done lots of the big areas, but now have loads of little bits to do. There were dire warnings on the pack about running out of thread if you didn’t do it exactly as per the instructions, but the pre-printing doesn’t seem to match up to where you might stitch, if that makes sense. I’ve got a tiny dot of orange, but wherever I start it, the needle is going to end up in a different colour by the time I finish the stitch. Is it just a judgement call, or is there some method about what to do in that situation?

I think this is where artistic license comes to the fore.  They tend to print pictures onto the canvas with no regard to where the holes are.  Just go with what you think is best, whether you leave the tiny flecks out, or just do a few of the, or do the lot, but don’t worry abou going into another colour, it just can’t be helped.  Will you post a piccie when you are done? :D

Thank you - I’ve been worried about running out of thread, but I guess there should be a little to allow for that kind of thing! I will post a pic when I’ve finished, but it will be a while - I only get to do it when Grace is napping! smile

My lovely husband thought that it would be nice to get me one for each season, so that they can go on the season table when they are finished - this one is summer, and I *might* just have got it finished in time! I think he plans to have the next 3 Christmases sorted! smile
