Joxy I’m really looking foward to meeting you and Rye as you are at the same point in the homeschooling journey as us so it will be comforting to meet someone with a child the same age who doesnt look at me like I have 2 heads when I say Charlie isn’t in nursery!

    Sam
    x

It will be lovely to meet you too Sam and compare notes grin  I’m a bit awkward in group settings too and not very good about putting myself out there; so we can xit in the corner and be awkward together until we get caught up in the fun of the weekend.  Hehe, thankfully Rye has made me much more outgoing than I use to be grin

I am really looking forward to this soooo much.

And guys - if anyone fancies learning how to crochet, I’m happy to bring my hooks with me - but please bring a ball of wool yourself to save me carting my stash across country (choose a double knit, or thicker yarn and light coloured is easiest to learn with).

Ohhh PCC I’d like to hire some bedding too, do I pm Jennifer?

Ooh, me please! I’d really love to learn - I’ve tried but it seems I’m incapable of understanding instructions in books or online, lol - I’d love a lesson from an expert smile I’ve got a hook somewhere (perhaps propping up something in dd’s dollshouse?!) so will try to hunt it out as I’m sure this will be a very popular offer!

spring is in the air and i am in the process of organising my summer travelling ( well around the uk in a tent !!!)  i am so looking forward to the meet.

i will need to start to concider sorting out invoices for the remainding amount of money for each of you ( i do say concider as that comes well before, thinking about, and organising to do, which is way befoer doing !!)

at the center there is an option to hire bedding for the weekend. it consists of a single duvet cover a pillow case and a bottom sheet. this is available for £2.50 per bed for the weekend. you of course can bring your own bedding. there are single duvets avaialble but you will have to bring your own covers and pillows but again bring your own covers. please could every one let me know if they would like bedding so i can make sure i put aside enough sets and can add this to your final invoice so i dont have to collect money on the weeeknd itself.

    gettign excited now.

numbers are getting very close to where we would like to close bookings so if any one knows of any one interested please give them a confident shuv in our direction fro a great weeeknd.

Yes please I’d like to hire bedding for Rye and me.

Is there a shop nearby to buy a few groceries for the weekend - the less I can carry across country on the trains the easier it will be lol grin

I was just looking at the normal train site online for ticket prices from here to the station near the camp.
You can only book 12 weeks in advance tho.. so at the time I used the dates a few months in advance to get an idea of ticket prices.  I’ll be booking my tickets actually next week I think… as time is pressing on grin

And yes I have to come into London to change grin  Hey we might end up travelling on the same train grin

Yeah will have to be next week when I book; the weekend of the meet isn’t available for advance booking at the moment…. so I did the weekend before and yeah there’s singles for £15.

Ohhhh bugger, there’s no suitable trains back on the Monday - how ffing annoying.  There isn’t a train until nearly 7pm and I wouldn’t actually get home until Tuesday, which is no good with Rye at all.

And you know because its a bankholiday weekend the prices have gone up too.. those £15 singles no where to be found it’s now £70 odd quid return.  Robbing gits.

Thank you Jennifer for your plan - I think problem solved - or rather it will be.

Its a bit of a palava on the Monday but I can get a train from Gloucester to London and then a coach from london to folkestone.
And the train tickets, I called National Enquiries because I just couldn’t believe there’s no trains on the monday running from London to Kent - there aren’t (I still can’t get over that - Kent is one of the largest counties in the UK!), and in the process i was informed the advanced fares haven’t been released yet, so to try again in a few days.

Does mean a couple of hours to kill in London, but as we arrive around 5ish we can go and have something to eat and then make our way to the coach station to catch it at 7pm.

I’ll just get a taxi to Gloucester - so yes a long day travelling on the MOnday but worth it grin

I was looking at hiring a car £150 odd quid tho and that’s without adding in petrol I was a bit stunned - how on earth can anyone every afford to hire cars?

    Joxy.

P.S mind buying that flipping coach ticket is proving difficult lol.  For some reason my card keeps being declined even tho its fine; and because I’ve tried a few times I’ve just had a call from Halifax anti-fraud to check it’s me trying to make the payments and now for the next 24 hours my card is “protected”  sigh…. I had cheap fun tickets too and they are only reserved for 1/2 hour (£8 from London to Folkestone).

    Not my day lol.

Hi all, I havent been on here for ages and thought i’d better check if i was on the list and what if anything else has happened.

We won’t need bedding, will just bring our sleeping bags, when do we need to pay the balance?  Need to work out monies, I cant even remember how much is left to pay.

    Looking forward to it

Joxy - check out the national express coaches from Chepstow to London. My brother has used them and says it’s a pretty good service. I can take you to Chepstow if you want. Actually don’t bother with a taxi if your Gloucester trip is already booked cos I’ll take you if there is nobody else with room that is heading out that way. I can tell you for a fact that a taxi to glos will cost well over £50 :-( Glos is the way that most folks will go to hit the motorway so you might also be able to get alift with somebody with an unfull car.

There are a selection of shops nearby - again Joxy if you are coming in by train either Jen or I will come and get you from Lydney and there are supermarkets there that we can stop at for food before heading on to the venue. There is also a very little post office with a few bits but only really essentials like bread and milk and chocolate wink

Whe else is coming by train? Frowstyspink I assume you are? Just so we can work out how many lifts we need to sort out. The taxi from the station to the venue is an extortionate £9!!! Rip off merchants.
