Are there any silly questions you’ve often wondered about? Just wondered if I posted mine, perhaps someone could enlighten me.
1. Why is agave syrup better than sugar, even though it is so sweet?
2. How does a full moon have such an influence surely it’s greatest effect would be in correlation to spring tides etc?
I think I know about the agave…
The way I understand it, agave syrup is better for you not because it has fewer calories, which it doesn’t, but because it’s mainly fructose, a different type of sugar to sucrose. Sucrose and other sugars are simple carbohydrates which are absorbed really quickly in the bloodstream, causing a spike in insulin levels, which is not desirable, as it contributes to fat storage and, long term, it can lead to diabetes. Fructose on the other hand doesn’t cause a sharp rise in insulin levels, it is absorbed much more slowly and it helps keep everything in balance. It has a very low glycemic index. But it still not good to have by the gallon…
Now, here is a silly question of my own:
Why is it that if you blow air out of your mouth with lips wide open, that air is warm, but if you purse your lips the air that comes out is cool? I would love to know that!
xxx
Argave is low GI food, so while it’s a type of sugar it takes far longer to break down in the bloodstream - so doesn’t produce that sugar high and inevitable sugar low that bogstand sugar does.
Why when a bus driver breaks do you nearly go through the window???? I mean seriously, is there something different about bus brakes to other vehicles - the jerking is blumming awful?
All the radio waves etc buzzing around the atmosphere - can animals who use sonar or just better hearing that us.. can they hear radio waves?
How on earth does cousciousness evolve from cells dividing to make a baby???
Blimey, there’s some stonking questions there Joxy!!
Greenieboo - I think the difference in temperature must be something to do with speed and pressure. The warm air is coming out slowly, so not losing energy (and therefore heat) as quickly by bumping into adjacent air molecules. Or something like that! I’m no physicist!
I just googled the moon and tides, and spring tides correlate with a full moon and new moon so it makes sense to me now!
For a long time I use to wonder how they got the stripes into that tooth paste that’s advertised a lot lol.
I wonder about the oddest things sometimes.
I once got into trouble at Church for asking why if God only wants us to use sex for procreation - why do women orgasm… men I could understand.. but a woman???? Never did get an awswer really.. just red faces and a lot of mumbling.

Joxy.
Oh that’s a fantastic question, would have loved to have been there when you asked that one
Apparently it encourages you to lie down for longer afterwards, so the sperm arent fighting to go uphill (yes, I asked that question too, although not at church. Think they would have lynched me!)
Joxy..Have been thinking about the conciousness evolving from cells a lot since i read this post….along the cbt lines of another thread it might be something to do with electrical signals being generalted between cells by the polarity their chemical make up?...but probably not…I just think too much..
On the sex questions theme I often wonder why humans are not like lions…where ovulation is stimulated by sex…surely this makes much more sense? An egg just when you need it and no need for periods…hooray!...but I suppose if you are someone who has a lot of sex for enjoyment you may disagee…
Just to go back to original question for a mo, agave syrup is just as processed as white refined sugar, in fact all sugar products that we consume have to be processed before we consume them in some way or other, through fractionation, hydrolysation etc. The body uses the ultimate products of carbs - ie sugars and simpler sugars ie. sucrose, fructose, lactose etc in much the same way. So much as we want a miracle sweet product, there ain’t one!
How do you know that the colour you perceive something to be is the same as someone elses perception? And how the hell do they know dogs only see in black and white?
I’ve thought that colour thing too. We’d have no way of ever knowing…..
I think the orgasm thing is functional too, sadly. The uterus contracts during orgasm and sends the sperm shooting faster towards the egg. Let’s not complain though, hey.
