We went to a historic house today and in some of the rooms were books laying around.  When I picked one up it had been left by someone else with a label on the front cover saying that it was journeying around the world and there was a website to log onto to see where it had been and who had already had it.  I didnt pick up the book but thought to myself that I would remember the website to check out later and guess what….I’ve forgotten it!!!!!!!!  ARGGHHHH.  Has anyone heard of this scheme and do you know the website and any more about it?  The label invited whoever found it to take it and read it then leave the books somewhere else but to put the details on the website.

I’m very intrigued!

Thank you so much - it was this one!  Have you ever “used” these books?

I read a book from a similar thing, i dont think it was book crossing, but it was a while ago now.
I just found it on a park bench in Melbourne, Australia.
I felt a bit funny at first taking something that wasnt mine, but the label assured me that that is what is was there for!
It wasnt a particulary good book, but it was free, i was skint and it is a great idea!  I then left it on another bench for someone else.

I did a bit of bookcrossing for a while - when people find your book they can write on the website and you get an e-mail - it’s quite interesting to see how far the book goes, especially if a few people read it and release it.  But most books i didn’t hear anything about!

I found a book from bookcrossing in a phone box and took it, read it, thoroughly enjoyed it and even planned on bookcrossing myself but never quite got around to it…

It’s a very good idea though smile

I’m being really thick - do you print out the labels on the UK site to stick on the book? I love this idea!

oooh, I like this! I’ll check out the website to see if I can start a book to go travellling. Little chance if finding a book here where I live. I don’t think many people read books apart from Hello (yes, they call that a book)..
