I was having a nosey on You tube and put in toddler to the search engine.. much to my suprise Toddler Fighting came up.
And I’m shocked, utterly shocked… why on earth would parents put up you vids of their kids fighting - and worst encourage it!

I just don’t understand the mentality of some parents, I really don’t.

what really gets me is that these parents have deliberately set up scenarios so their kids fight and they find this entertaining.  It’s horrible, there was a news item one where one vid got taken off and the dad is now subject to a child abuse investigation - the news item showed a bit of the vid and at the end you hear the dad telling the boys to stop and one of them is bleeding!!!!.  Another, which I didn’t actually watch, had 2 year olds in boxing gloves.

And don’t get me started on the vids of tossing toddlers, I mean sure the kids look like they are enjoying it but gawd, there’s one vid of two men tossing these kids between them in a garden.. one misscatch… well doesn’t bear thinking about…... and it’s the mum that’s videoing it all, laughing her ass off ane encouraging her other kids to go and be tossed between them.  Ok, I have gently thrown Rye onto the sofa because he finds it funny; but I stand close and I gently drop him on it… there’s one where the guy has a big beanbag full of foam and he literally tosses the child across the room onto it….. gawd if he’d misjudged or the child bounced off the bag.

Scary.

I feel sick just thinking about it.  Mind you, I hate seeing parents swinging their children by the hands/wrists after my DS1 had his elbow dislocated by someone doing that to him (not me or DH I hasten to add!)

Im so glad that my signal where im moored is too bad to watch the footage!!!!!!!

Phelan loves to be bounced and lifted up in the air, but I would NEVER dream of letting him be thrown or (shudder) fight.

In fact im nursing a very painful swollen and bruised knee after slipping coming out of the local swimming pool changing rooms (damn crocs lethal when wet!)
I was so intent on protecting Phelan, who I had in my arms, that I didnt think of myself at all!

Sadly it would seem that these parents are quite the opposite… hmmm

I am constantly stunned at the number of little kids I see clambering around the backseat of a car, or a car packed with adults and the kids sat on their knees.

Actually, I was wondering the other day; I use to ride on the back of my brother’s motorbike - but I’ve not seen any kids on bikes for years and years - is it illegal now or something - or people just too worried about the risks?

It’s not illegal, but there are rules. The child has to be tall enough to reach the pillion footrests, and they have to obviously have a correctly fitted helmet.

That means that kids who are on the back of bikes are either a bit older (10+) or a bit taller than average - which might be why you think you don’t see it happening as often! smile

If you see stuff on YouTube which is inappropriate, you can complain and ask to ahve it taken down. Might be worth doing so in cases with kids?
