Ok people, what are you knitting/sewing/making at the moment and what are you planning to make in the near future.  I have just spent far too much money on wool and my future projects are: a jumper for Minnie, knitted lions and cows  for big DD, a scarf for a friend, a knitted bag for me and some pretty wool to experiment with.  I am also about a quater of the way through a big, red jumper for me which is going slowly, but very exciting to see it grow - definitely my most ambitious knit so far!  So, what are you all making or planning for 2009?

ooo, ooo, I can actually join in on this thread this year - new years resolution and all that  ;D

My project at the moment (how cool do I feel being able to say that  wink ) is a felt owl. I cheated and bought a kit for it, but I don't care; I have to start somewhere and it will help me to learn.

I have so many ideas for this year, way too many to list; but I want to have a go at so many things as I'm bursting with inspiration from you lot, some books and great blogs!

I've almost finished my first ever pair of socks, I'm really excited about them as my feet are freezing at the mo and everytime I pick them up to knit I'm imagining how warm my feet will eventually be!  Most of the men in my family have seen me knitting them and requested a pair so I have a waiting list of 3 pairs of socks to get cracking on this year!  I really want to focus a bit more on my nature table crafting and my sewing machine although I'm not sure what to make yet!  Good thread, look forward to some inspiring reading!

At the moment my plan is to finish my WIPs so I have in the queue: a sock which I started last night (the second of a pair that DH and I will be fighting over), a cardigan I started 2 years ago (good job it was for my now 10yo as it will still fit one of my other girls), a crochet blanket, as many pairs of socks as I can get out of the wool I bought for the project.

I also need to make a beanbag as I bought a huge bag of beans to refill our other ones and have loads left but the bag keeps bursting and we have nowhere to store it so I'm going to make a new beanbag to use them up.

I would like to make a couple more blankets, but if I get this lot done before the baby then I will be happy.

I have lots of other projects but they can wait until later in the year, one of them is these:

I've got a few Jean Greenhowe books and booklets and I'm going to slowly work my way through the toys, so I may have a few things for the LETS.  I'm also going to try some sewing and I might make a knitted blanket.  It all keeps me out of mischief

I've see loads of other projects which truly inspire, so shall see how I go once baby is here

On the go at the minute I've got my first ever pair of socks, a knitted monster, and a knitted scarf.  On my list for the foreseeable future are bath melts, lipsalve, embroidered pictures of pictures drawn by my children, a cross-stitch I got for Christmas, maybe some felty bits for LETS, handmade cards, a felt crown, dressing up cloak and mask, beeswax candles…....and whatever else takes my fancy.  There are sooo many inspiring ladies on here that I just want to make loads of things.

I started on the farmyard playmat yesterday.  I'm currently working my way through metres of chain stitch for the stream and pond and have been embroidering a base for pebbles in the stream and then needle-felting them.  The rug canvas is HUGE: 1m x 1.2m so I'm working on my hands and knees on the living room floor to do it.  I might be finished sometime around Easter  ::)

I've also started a lacy edged cardigan for dd's Waldorf doll having just finished some stockings for her.  I made these as I made her little brother's doll some dungarees, a cabled cardi and socks to match the cardi and then of course Nin wanted some socks for her own doll, but I thought as the weather was cold, stockings might be better under her dress   ;D :

I wish I had the talent to have made the dolls!  They are both made by Berrie at http://moonchildhandworkstudio.blogspot.com/.  Whilst on the subject of Waldorf dolls, Bamboletta has a giveaway on her blog atm for a beautiful doll: http://bamboletta.com/?page_id=46 (not that I want to make my chance of winning any smaller  wink )

For a hat that stays on Edan, have you thought about a balaclava?  I make them for my little ones and they are rather handy if you have a little one on your back.  I've also made matching balaclavas for dolls (having dolly wear one can help convince a little one to keep their hat on).

I knitted and crocheted an MT for dd to carry her doll and she loves it and uses it such a lot - really easy to make if your little one is of an age where they might want to carry a doll/teddy around.

    Here she is wearing it:

Oooh, what gorgeous dolls!!  Might have to be something else to add to my list of makes (which reminds me, I bought several unfinished ones from a doll maker with the intention of finishing them off…..  I must dig them out).  The outfits are cute too.

Lovely site you posted - I recognise the hats from Living Crafts.

Please post photos of the playmat, I would love to see it as it progresses.  I love the idea of the knitted farmyard, especially when you get other people to join in but I worry I'd get bored knitting several of the same piece.

I think I ought to turn my attentions to the house for a little while, but then I plan to get finished the ideas I had for Christmas that I never completed (or even started!).

I want to have a go at those felted bowls that mama4 did, make a cork board from old corks, finish some cross-stitch, and I think with allotment plans, chickens, oh, and children, that will keep me busy for a while!  I really don't know how you all manage doing so much stuff.  You are truly inspirational!

I have way too much on my to do list lol! Its Charlies birthday at the end of feb and I'm hoping to make her a waldorf dolly (Though it hasnt stopped me trying for the bamboletta doll!). I have absolutely no experience though so its likely to be a very basic dolly this time round! I also want to make her a felt crown to wear on her birthday.

Other things on my to do list are

Draw string bags to get some of her toys out of plastic boxes
    Felt food for LETS
    seasonal table dolls
find it bags (if i can find anyone selling the little charms to go in them!)

Im also hoping to learn to knit and felt this year! So 2009 will hopefully be the year of the craft for me lol
