Up until recently DS has been painting with some small pots of what I think are finger paints. They’re quite thick and give a nice, vibrant colour. These are running out so earlier this week I bought some bottles of Crayola ready mixed paint, but I’m not impressed with it. It’s quite thin and the colours are nowhere near as vibrant. DS isn’t that impressed either! Can anyone recommend some good, bright paints that aren’t wishy-washy. It would be nice if they had quite a thick consistency. Would poster paints be any good?

how about making your own paint out of flowers, vegetables, plants etc? I haven’t got any recipes to be honest but saw a book about it and it seemed very fun to make and to use.

galt paints are very robust colours though the ones we have are just primary colours. We do very little painting these days as dd just ends up with a big brown splurge and eventually just wears away the paper….. I find that she is much more creative with colour pencils and colour paper - we like stabilo woody pencils which are big thick crayons with fantastic rich colours. They are also water soluble so she does ‘paint’ with them sometimes.
