Does anyone have a good recipe? Like a “you couldn’t tell it isn’t a non-vegan birthday cake, plus a complete idiot with a dodgy oven could turn it out nicely?“

There’s a little girl coming to DD’s party who is dairy intolerant, and I think one or two of the other children might as well….plus it would be fun to try =]

I posted this for someone the other day too.  I think it is just the best choc cake and I don’t reckon anyone would know it wasn’t a regular cake.  Also, very easy to make, just chuck it all together and bake!

Oh, I can definitely recommend this cake. I made it last weekend for dd2’s birthday party where one of her friends has an egg allergy. It was the best chocolate cake I’ve ever made, and I even made a mistake and put too little sugar in. I didn’t put the icing from the recipe on, but made a ‘butter’ icing with cocoa powder, and decorated with chocolate buttons and such like. It was lovely, and really easy to make.
