Grace has started pulling her own hair so hard it’s coming out in clumps! Any ideas as to why, or how we stop her?

hmm, thats a new one on me! does she do it when she is cross/frustrated, does she cry, it must be hurting her surely? personally with anything like this i would tend to go the ignore it route as i think as soon as they notice you dont want them to do something it suddenly seems to become much more fun! i remembered this with O in a cafe yesterday when he kept playing with the bin, he was only mildly intersted until i said no and stopped him then he thought wow, i think i’ll do this some more! lol, so maybe try and ignore it and its a phase and she’ll stop or if its too difficult to ignore what about trying to keep a hat on her for a while - will she wear hats? not sure other than that - sorry,  good luck though!

Well, if ds had much hair he would pull it! he does hit his head with things and thinks it’s funny or until he really himself. Maybe it’s the ‘sensation stage’ - with grace pulling her hair out and my ds making himself sick - we’d have bags of fun if we got them together!!

I think we have figured it out - when I got close enough to have a good look at her head tonight, because she fell asleep on me, I discovered patches of very raw scaly skin. I think she must have excema, or her cradle cap has got infected. It definitely looks scaly rather than red brcause of the pulling. So, now I just need to work out how to treat her head…...
