hooray my new edition has just landed on the door step - god i love this magazine - and there smiling at me was what i thought was Rye - is it Joxy?
second question, how do you get involved in this side of the magazine? trying out products etc for them? having your little babes in the mag? being a ‘READER’?
Also i just love picking my way through the mag. so many brilliant articles, which one to choose first. i am like a kid in a sweety shop trying to look at everything and not slowing down to read anything properly til later!
I was lucky enough to be a reader this time and really enjoyed the experience. There was a post on this forum asking for a Reader Panel, so keep an eye out. I got my copy this morning and have only had a quick look it was a bit surreal keep seeing my name and face pop up! I am really chuffed with the pic of my little one in a nappy we trialed I am looking forward to having a good read later when everyone in bed, the story telling article looks especially interesting.
yes it does, come on joxy, don’t leave us in suspense.i’m a bit peeved, went up to waitrose to get mine tonight and the last issue still sits there, guess i’ll have to treat myself to a sub xx
Well… Most bizarre thing… went into WHSmiths yesterday, and the (Feb) GP mags were sat middle row and reasonably prominent. They were in the same position last time I checked too (about 3 or 4 weeks ago)... so perhaps someone finally got the message (because they used to be well hidden at the very back and I used to pop in regularly and move them all to the very front LOL) BUT despite their new prominent spot, there were still about 5 or 6 copies left, and usually by the time the new one is due out there is often only one mag left (or none!).
So I dont know whether they ordered extra last time or what? Ahh well, such is life I guess.
Cant wait to get the new mag, but probably wont be till Tuesday when I’m next in town… cant afford to take a trip into town just for that (it costs £3.20 round trip on the bus).
i used to go out to get my mag but i found i was going to so many different shops to find it that it was costing me more than a subscription (not that they cost more but you know what i mean)
so now i subscribe and i dont have to wait - im not very good at that!
The main reason I still buy from my WHSmiths rather than subscribe is for that reason… I want the demand to stay. Because if no one bought from town, they would stop stocking them, and at least whilst they do stock them, the potential is there for other parents to spot it and buy a copy, where as they might not know about the GP mag or think to buy it otherwise. So I like the fact that whilst some people in my town still buy it from our WHSmiths, other parents can see it on the shelves and be tempted to buy it (rather than the annoying ones with their free ‘soother’ offers and money off GF books and disposable nappies, and their list of best buggies/cots/bouncy chairs/johnsons products etc etc etc.) LOL!!!
Haha I buy from town too for the same reason - no new ones in ours.
And nooo, I don’t think it’s Rye! It does look like him, but that little lad looks about a year or two older I think, different head/body proportion and different dimples. Could be the camera angle, but I’m going for it being a good Rye-lookalike not the real thing!
Ah, yes I can see that it looks like him too - my copy arrived yesterday, but have to agree with Sarah I don’t think it is him - think the child on the magazine looks older and I think Rye’s hair is a little shorter now.
Joxy? You’re the only one who can confirm it or not
Hehehe, you’re right Sarah, no the child on the cover is not Rye; although the similarity is striking, even I did a double take for a moment when the magazine dropped through the letter box this morning.
Even Rye thinks it’s him; he keeps looking at the photo and saying “Ohhh, its Rye, Rye”.
Wow!, thanks missking for the lovely words (can I use them to promote the mag ) it’s always great to hear when we publish a new edition, it gets us all excited about putting together the next one! If you look through the mag you will find details of how you can contact us to be a tester in the next issue. A big thanks to those who buy it from the shops too, we love you to subscribe but like you say Pheonix it keeps up the demand and helps us to reach new parents (do you fancy a job in our promotional dept ). We will be launching our new email newsletter in the next week or two to fill the gap in-between issues so be sure to sign up at the bottom of the home page for extra news, events, competitions and inspiration.
Best wishes
