Grace has developed quite a raw rash on her chin - I think she is teething, although she is not at all upset by it, but she dies have her hand in her mouth quite a lot. I was just wondering what the best way of treating it was? In the past I’ve always used breastmilk on rashes (she’s not had many), but this one seems to have been caused by being damp, so I don’t know if adding more damp to it will help… I have some weleda nappy lotion - not sure if that would help?

Hi

You need to dry it and apply a barrier cream, something like vaseline.

Really? I was hoping for something a bit more natural than petroleum jelly…

I wouldn’t go for anything BP or mineral oil based. The best thing I found for Tansy so far is a bit of Weleda calendula face cream with a slick of Lansinoh over the top. The Lansinoh is hyper refined so as to be non allergenic and the calendula is soothing on the rash.

Weleda weather balm is a vaseline consistency but petroleum free. It’s a bit heavier than the usual baby face cream.

Weleda works really well with rashes but its perhaps best not to play around with too many creams or it might get even more inflamed. Its possible that it might have been caused by bedsheets or a pillow case pressing against her cheek as she sleeps? It might be a good idea to buy some anti allergenic bedsheets, my two year old used to have terrible red skin and only when we changed his bed sheets to bamboo did it clear up. Do consider it if nothing else works! These bamboo sheets are organically anti allergenic, have a look http://www.bamboo-textiles.co.uk/products/bedlinen-products.html

Best of luck!
