UPDATE ... house has been up for sale for 4 weeks. We have had 6 viewings & 3 people interested but they have houses to sell themselves, 1 has been on the market just a bit longer than us, 1 couple are desperate for our house & have dropped their house price by £25k & the other couple have put an offer in but obviously not able to discuss this seriously as they havent sold theirs as yet & its only been on the market for 10 days. Spoke to the estate agent this morning & 3 more people have requested our brochure this week. I am SO impatient. Now we have made the decision I just want to move.

Just wanted to say, good luck with everything n hope you sell your house really soon.

To be honest we are in a similar position and want to sell our house and move just 17 miles to the most wonderful eco friendly, green loving, hippy town ever. The only snag we have is teenagers/young adults!!!!!!!!!

Hi KB77, ive done this a few times. Myself and DH both had good jobs (no kids then tho) in Reading and we just upped and moved to Brighton. We loved it, but we still had itchy feet so after two years we packed up and went travelling. We ended up back in reading and both got our old jobs back (how lucky!!), but 18 months ago we upped and left and are now in Ireland. Our kids are 4 and 3, and not in school yet so a bit easier for us. We havent sold our house yet but have a family member staying there and helping with the money side. We rent in Ireland and we do plan to go back to reading at some point. It took DH about 18 months to find a job in Ireland. I was home with the kids, so again easier in that respect.
Its not easy tbh, but I do believe in just doing stuff rather than always only talking about it.
Good luck and keep us posted!

We accepted an offer on our house on Wednesday & we had our offer accepted yesterday. It is a very small chain - 1st time buyer, people buying ours, us & the couple selling the house we want. Bottom of chain wants completion by end of september. Hoping it all goes relatively smoothly. Getting nearer to the dream. This week has been so tiring it’s unbelievable. smile
