Anyone else had their allotments AGM yet? How did it go? We’ve got ours tonight. I’m looking forward to it as slowly, but surely we’re coming together as a community I feel. It’s a cliche, I know, but allotment people are generally ‘down to earth’... I don’t feel able to volunteer for the committee, but try and support.

Maybe there will be news of our composting toilet…

I think ours is in the next couple of weeks, dh will be going as he is involved on the committee. There is some good interest in ours but some clashes of personality have happened in the past too unfortunately. Hope you get some more news in your composting toilet, be great to hear when it gets built.

ETA, just seen that it’s in March, so a few weeks off yet.

Hello Eden,
It’s interesting to hear when other people have theirs…yes, I’m sure there will be challenges in committees - there always are, aren’t there? Do you have an allotments website yet?

We have ours on the 24th. Will be interesting as it’s the end of the first year for our plots. Many of the trustees for the site haven’t bothered cultivating their plots, so breaking their own terms. We’re on the list for an additional plot so shall see what happens!

The composting toilet sounds like a wonderful idea WW…will look forward to hearing how the plans for that go. DH is slowly but surely collecting reclaimed materials for a timber pole constructed shed that he’s planning on building this year on our plot, which will house a porta-potty, lovely smile

Yes, the website has been going for a little while, although sometimes infrequent content/updates. Dh was doing it short term and passing it onto another committee member but then they resigned, so he still has it - although the chairwoman does some bits on it too. I’ve offered to help him with it to share the work as he has enough to do for the committee sometimes. I have some ideas that could go in the site too.

Here’s our website if you fancy a nosey -
