Hair tangles and brushing

I’ve often had problems with dd not wanting her hair brushed, and screaming and shouting at any little tug. I have found the perfect answer to this, if any of you have had the same issue: a de-tangle brush. I didn’t even know they existed, but Boots have them and they are fantastic, they cost about £12 and have no handle, you just put your hand round them, they have short bendy bristles and they do not tug. I use this brush now for my hip length hair and it is wonderful and no more shouting and hiding from dd in the morning.

Sorry to sound like an advert, but I thought someone else might have this problem, I think they are called something like ‘Tangle tamers’. My friend had recommended one from Avon, but even she preferred my one for her daughter’s hair.

HTH
Calpol makes her throw up, no temperature thankfully so thats not too much of an issue. Tried infant olbas oil, vicks vapo rub etc - can anyone recommend anything else? Don’t want to resort to docs who will just use some form of antibiotic/penicillin stuff.
Thanks
Weight Loss Support Group

Hello

I am planning to lose a bit of weight, and wondered if anyone else was and if so, do you fancy starting a weightloss support group?

I am just cutting down on crap (chocolate, cakes, puddings) and fatty stuff (butter, cheese etc) and trying to be a bit more active. I had about a stone to lose but have lost 5lb already so have 9lb to go but wouldn’t be amiss to an extra 4 or 5lb on top of that!

Anyone interested? Thought we could have a weekly weigh in, or would that be too horrific

St Johns Wort

I went to the GP recently as I felt that my PMS was getting out of control. Around time of my period I would have a tendency to very emotional and absolutely maddening outbursts, mainly towards my poor dh, (he says annoying things for sure : ) but nothing that warrants my violent mood swings. It’s very unusual as i am generally known for being chilled out and calm so people can’t really picture me going a bit ‘crazy’. The GP said one way of ‘fixing’ it would be to raise my general mood levels so then the PMs wouldn’t tip the balance and she suggested St Johns Wort in order to lift my general mood and positivity. Has anyone tried this and if so, did it work and which brand did you get? It’s only my mood and the fact that i get so low which is a real problem. I have no other PMS symptoms. Some advice would be more than welcome.

thanks xx

UTI?

DS1 is 4 and has been completely toilet trained, no accidents for at least 8 months, until the last couple of weeks. For the past week and a half he has got wet most days. I’m a bit worried as at first I thought it was because he was distracted playing but it seems like he really doesn’t have as much notice as he previously had. He willingly put a nappy on yesterday, and in fact has one on now - completely his idea.
He doesn’t seem to go more frequently and it doesn’t hurt so not sure it is a uti, certainly not a lower tract one.
He doesn’t seem to be doing it for attention. I am pregnant but don’t think he has any issues with that.
Anyone any experience of this? Not wanting to go straight to doctors as I think might end up with ab’s just in case and I don’t think it is a uti.

How to ease phlegm/cattarrh (sp?)

I have so much phlegm at the back of my throat and in my chest it’s driving me insane! I do have a bit of a blocked nose at times but it’s mainly further back. Like it starts in the middle of my head and works its way down to my chest! The result is blocked ears and me saying “pardon?“ to everything anyone says! (Driving everyone else mad too!).

Is there ANYTHING i can do to relieve this? Anything on the shelf says to check with your doctor if you’re pregnant which I would if I have to but would prefer to find something a bit more natural to deal with it. Plus DS needs it too as he won’t take any medicines so would be useful to find something he would use too. (His constant snorting is enough to drive us all round the bend!).

Can anyone help? x

They seem very brittle and sharp, whete as they have always been hard and strong, with bright white tips that looked like Id had a manicure. Now they look dull and lifeless.

Im sure its probally due to my diet being less than perfecrmt right now, but does anyone know of a good supplement for nails thays safe when breadt feeding? Or even know why it could be?

I cant find any useful info online on this phone!

I had a bad bacterial infection last october/November. I had two sets of antib’s and the doc is convinced I am now cured. I’ve had a cold now for over a week - really nasty sinus, ear ache, and its just not shifting. Part of me is worried its the infection back. I’ve been trying to focus on my diet - beetroot to improve blood quality, garlic anti bacterial but is there anything else I could be taking? Any natural antibiotics that you’ve tried and has worked?

Leg cramps in children

I feel as though I do nothing but ask questions these days, but I was wondering if anyone had any experience in how to deal with leg cramps in children. My DD will be 4 in March and woke up screaming in pain last night because she had cramp in her calf. I am desperately hoping it was a one off, but my DH had awful leg cramps throughout his childhood/adolescence and I’d like to be prepared in case it happens again. Ideally I’d like to prevent it happening in the first place, but also need to know what to do if/when it happens. The things I have come up with so far are tonic water (for the quinine), pulling the toes up to stretch the leg and rubbing the calf. After that I get a bit stuck so any advice would be very welcome (preferably natural methods, although I’d consider anything). It’s horrible watching your child in pain and not being able to do very much about it :(

Elimination diet for allergies, help please

Can anyone help me, I have never done an elimination diet before and there is so much information when I search for advice that I am getting very confused. I am worried about eating each time it comes to meal times, panicking that something might make my eczema worse.

For those who don’t know I have very severe eczema which I am currently controlling with painkillers and antihistamines, I was using steroid cream but it isn’t doing anything any more. I am using either coconut oil or Aveeno cream. Dust, heat and dairy all make it inflame as does stress.

I need to do something as I cannot live with this any more, I look and feel like my skin has been burned (bright pink/red and shiny almost puckered look like burned and scarred skin) and am having to take painkillers as clothes or even bedclothes against my skin are painful. I cannot wear certain clothes, today for example I could not wear a bra as the eczema has joined up over my shoulders and is over my back (aswell as up my neck and over my stomach, over my chest, patches on my stomach and on my legs). It is also beginning on my face which is really getting me down!

Please help with any experiences, types of diets, is allergy testing worth it, links or info as I really need to know what in my diet is triggering a reaction.
Thank you ,
