I’m Julie from Edinburgh. I’m a single parent/carer to my 11-year-old son, who has autism, so looking after him takes up most of my time. When he’s at school though I have a volunteer job in a Victorian Schoolroom (admin, and also dressing up as a schoolteacher and terrifying visiting children!).

I’m a pagan, a vegetarian, and I love photography and photo manipulation art.

It’s lovely to be here!

Hello,

I’m from East London, where I live with my hubby and dd 12. I have recently started home educating our daughter (since Christmas) as she was struggling with yr 8. She had sailed through yr 7 with no problems but as her school began laying on the pressure she began to struggle. We are not new to HE though, she was home educated for her last two years of primary school as she was having bullying issues, secondary school was her choice.

I am also a Pagan, trying to incorporate a nature friendly lifestyle within our home. I am also in the process of starting up my own business designing and making cards and other individual gifts to sell. I run a youth dance activity for local children between the ages of 5 and 18 which keeps me busy.

I’m looking forward to meeting you all

Here's the introduction thread, come and tell us all about yourself. I'll go first.

I'm Lucie, I live near Boston in Lincolnshire and I'm married to Craig. We have 7 children aged between 2 and 15 and are expecting another baby in February 2009. We also have 6 chickens.

I enjoy knitting, sewing, crochet, feltmaking and scrapbooking. I also run a Bumps and Babes group and a Mother and Toddler group and I'm a Governor at my children's primary school.

Ummm, that's all I can think of.

Hiya,

I have just joined this forum after popping in to read on and off for a few months, so thought I would introduce myself.

I’m a mummy to 3 little pixies, Seren 3 (4 in a couple of weeks), Merri 2 1/2 and Nerys 7 months, and I live in St Asaph, North Wales. I try to be as green as I can, but it can be hard sometimes to keep up with three pixies to keep me busy! I love crafts and sewing (when I get the time) and reading, and this year intend to improve my knitting (I can only do scarfs at the moment!) and hopefully get a veggie patch going in our garden Be lovely meeting some like minded people in here and getting to know you all

I left a couple of months ago because I was feeling pretty stressed IRL but I missed your wonderful support and friendship so much. I have had so many comments on my blog and lovely letters from caring mama here (you know who you are) and I just needed to be back in the arms of this fantastic group of mamas, and papas.
So most of you know me anyhow but saying hi again and hoping it’s ok to tiptoe back in.
And a big thanks to Jez for activating so quickly - wow, you made me want to jump back in head first!

In case you’re wondering - I was Becks lol, well still am actually, but new start new name uh?
Hoping to be able to get online more regularly soon enough, as soon as I can cope with screen intolerance…..

Hello from South Wiltshire!

Hello!

My wife joined a few weeks ago and since then I have been browsing through posts and keep having to stop myself from replying on her account! I have learnt loads about unconventional (at least in the Western sense) ways of parenting and living from the forum already and have been amazed at how positive and genuinely friendly you all seem to be.

So I took the plunge and joined. I’d better introduce myself: I am daddy to three boys, aged four, four and ten months. I have a pathological need to not do anything I am told and therefore am attracted to unschooling, avoiding commercialism and not going to work unless I absolutely have to. The financial demands of our current lifestyle do unfortunately require me to work, although I spend much of my time there thinking about parenting and blog when I can at gentlyparentingtwins.blogspot.com.

My family is without doubt the most important thing in my life and I am always trying to find ways that I can be a better parent and husband, although I still have a very long way to go in both respects! My parenting philosophy is based around respecting children as people and, when in doubt, I consider how I would like to be treated if I was in their position.

Just over a year ago, we moved to a house in the countryside with a reasonable sized garden. Since then we have grown loads of veg and have started keeping chickens. I’m happy to try my hand at anything, although I would benefit from a little more patience!

I look forward to getting to know people on the forum and hope that you enjoy getting to know me.

Hello,

I have come across this forum a few times while searching for information on steiner education and home schooling, and recognise a few names from blogs I have stumbled across over the years! I thought it would probably be a good idea to join and say hello. I could do with some positive guidance…

To be frank, I have been in free-fall over the last few months (since my 3rd baby was born) and have never felt so out of my depth. I don’t know what happened really, or how I managed to completely lose myself. However, as I have been learning to love my children again and found some remnants of self confidence, we have been able to reassess our parenting and the direction we would like to travel in…. hence our thoughts about home education. I am learning to listen to that tiny inner voice!

We have twin boys who turn 4 next month, and welcomed their baby brother into the fold this spring. I am a stay-at-home-mum, although like many who share the same title, we hardly stay at home all day! We began to learn more about attachment parenting when our twins were first born, and ended up breastfeeding, babywearing, sharing a family bed etc. and since then have always tried to give the boys freedom and time to just be children. There is so much more I would like to learn more about nutrition, natural healthcare, greener living and basically how to get a bit less frazzled.

I look forward to virtually getting to know you.

Hi again! I haven’t posted for a while but have still been reading daily and find this forum such an inspiration.

I am a mummy to three daughters aged 7, 5 & 2 and mummy to our little angel baby boy who sadly passed away shortly after his birth in August last year. I have been reading posts from other mummas who have lost their babys recently and my thoughts & prayers have been with you. It’s only now I feel ready to post again & be comfortable to talk about our recent loss.

I am a stay at home mummy and am trying my best to be present at all times, be a conscious parent and be kind & mindful and look after myself!! We love bike riding, being outdoors, camping, cooking & baking and eating & drinking good food & wine (adults of course!)

Looking forward to ‘getting to know’ you lovely mummas and posting more frequently.

Love & light to all x
