I’m thinking seriously about trying to sell some of the things that I make online. At the moment, I’m thinking about making some more of the pixie dolls that I’ve made in the past, pencil cases, covered books and dolly clothing and bedding and in the future maybe one or two bits of toddler clothing. Can anyone tell me what the differences are between selling on Etsy, Folksy or Misi and would any of these be more appropriate for me than others. What do they charge to sell items for example?

Also, I’m a bit nervous about selling things that I’ve made as I worry in case they’re not good enough. Can anyone who has bought a pixie doll off me let me know if they’ve had a problem with it, ie if the stitching has come undone or some other problem. It really would be a big help if I knew how they’ve survived being played with and if I need to make any improvements for future dolls. I’m experimenting with putting hair on the dolls at the moment with ‘interesting’ results as I thought it would make a nice change from little hats. Also, what constitutes ‘hand-made’? Any advice for selling online would be great.

Up until recently DS has been painting with some small pots of what I think are finger paints. They’re quite thick and give a nice, vibrant colour. These are running out so earlier this week I bought some bottles of Crayola ready mixed paint, but I’m not impressed with it. It’s quite thin and the colours are nowhere near as vibrant. DS isn’t that impressed either! Can anyone recommend some good, bright paints that aren’t wishy-washy. It would be nice if they had quite a thick consistency. Would poster paints be any good?

When my Mum came up to see us last, she had some nostalgia in her case… my old spirograph! Given our weather rained off our picnic (we’d go out in light showers, but this is *heavy rain*) deicded I’d get it out at some point today, and demo it to DD1(age 6 & 1/2) - I spent many a rainy day playing with it. She loves it, and is as good as seasoned professional, such as myself! I’m going to try and add our piccies of what we’ve done too….

Apologies first for mentioning the C word in July but I am being nosy, I haven’t started making fot Yule as yt but really must start soon and although I have a few ideas haven’t got much time so seeing if I can be inspired by you lovely crafty ladies

So what are you making?
What do you make year after year?
What are you trying new this year?

Any simple ideas you want to share?

One idea that I hope to make that is very simple is a fold over scarf/hat with pocket, knit a scarf wide enough for a childs head, sew middle bit to make a hood and fold/sew ends up to make pocket/s. That is if I have enough time, at least I can make them out of any wool any size needles! I am not feeling very technical as brain capacity has diminished after giving birth to Saule

I bought some buddhist prayer beads a couple of weeks ago, I wore them for a few days before the elastic snapped. I re-strung them a week later and within a couple of hours of wearing them they’d snapped again.
I am obviously rubbish at re-stringing beads and I probably don’t have the right elastic for it to be fair. Is there anyone out there who could re-string them for me please? I will send them with a pre-paid return envelope and any money you need for the elastic.
