Dive into the pool between 16-19 April to take part in the UK’s biggest Swimathon to raise money for Marie Curie Cancer Care. Over the past two years, 30,000 swimmers have taken part and have raised more than £3 million for Marie Curie Cancer Care and The Swimathon Foundation.
From Bristol to Belfast and Edinburgh to Eastbourne, over 500 pools will be hosting events giving everyone from novice to experienced swimmers the opportunity to get in the pool and raise money for charity. Duncan Goodhew, Olympic Gold medallist, comments: ‘Swimming is a great overall workout. It uses every muscle group in the body whilst burning more calories than other activities, such as running.’
This year’s fundraising for Marie Curie will help fund the work of more than 2,000 Marie Curie Nurses across the UK and means that more terminally ill people will have the chance to die at home. To find out what Swimathon pools are in your area, visit swimathon.org or call 0845 3670036.
