Craft and rosehip foraging

Bring a basket of foraged rosehips to Bristol's Arnolfini Centre from now until 14th February and you will be treated to a drink made with your wares and a recipe leaflet. Part of the Craftivism season at the centre, there are plenty of other unusual events and workshops taking place.

Situated in the centre of Bristol’s waterfront area the Arnolfini centre is host to a Craftivism exhibition until 14th Feb. This Saturday – 23rd and next Saturday – 30th January, non knitters can join in with a team of expert needle-clicking locals offering lesosns on how to knit.

On 27th Jan and 12th Feb, you can take part in interactive workshops on ethical fashion, led by Stephanie Syjuco.

Craftivism covers art, fashion and technology and this exhibition aims to address questions like ‘Can making do and mending help to save the world?’

We think it can and as industrialised production is often linked with sweatshop labour and pollution issues, it is no wonder that more and more of us are looking for alternatives. There has been a real renaissance in crafting in recent years as these community-minded events in Bristol demonstrate. Get along to the centre in the next few weeks and rediscover a lost skill.

Meanwhile, for some ideas on what to do with rosehips check out these recipes. You might still find some in the hedgerows or if not, save these treats for the autumn when these beautiful red berries will be abundant.
